KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo Baseball program, led by newly appointed head coach Kolin Conner, has announced the hiring of Eli Hickman as the program's Head Assistant/Recruiting Coordinator.
"As a player Eli was the definition of a culture guy. He was a great player but an even better human. As he transitions into coaching he will do great things because he can make adjustments very quickly," said Conner.
Hickman joins the IU Kokomo Baseball coaching staff after closing out his five-year career as a student-athlete under Coach Conner at Concordia University Chicago earlier this year.
"He is a worker through and through and he is exactly what we need as an assistant at IUK," Conner continued. "He knows what we are looking for in student-athletes and he won't settle for less. He also has the ability to execute and that is what separates him from most. He will be a great coach and I look forward to watching that. It will be a joy to build this program with him by my side."
In his time as a CUC Cougar, Eli hit .278 with 105 hits, 20 doubles, six triples, and four home runs to go along with 65 RBI and 99 runs scored. He also closed out his career with a .986 fielding percentage.
"I want to thank head coach Kolin Conner for allowing me the opportunity to join his staff," Hickman stated. "I am grateful for the opportunity and am eager to build relationships and get to work with the staff and student-athletes here at IU Kokomo."
Hickman is a 2020 graduate of Rennselaer High School and 2024 graduate of Concordia University Chicago, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology.
