ATHENS, Tenn. - The Indiana University Kokomo baseball team opened its season Thursday afternoon on the road with a doubleheader at fifth-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan University, falling 8–1 in game one before suffering a walk-off loss in the home half of the seventh in game two.

THE RUNDOWN
- Junior RHP Alec Murphy pitched around two first-inning walks and went on to keep Tennessee Wesleyan's potent offense in check across four innings.
- After four scoreless innings in which the Cougars out-hit No. 5 Tennessee Wesleyan 6–1, IU Kokomo broke through first in the top of the fifth. Noah Wolf led off with a single to center, moved to second on a Bradyn Douglas groundout, stole third, and came home on a wild pitch.
- The Bulldogs responded in the sixth with a solo shot to center field, evening the score at one through six.
- Tennessee Wesleyan plated six runs on four hits, two walks, and an IU Kokomo error in the bottom of the seventh to take a 7–1 lead.
- The Bulldogs tacked on an insurance run in the eighth before securing an 8–1 victory in game one.

THE RUNDOWN
- After giving up a run in the first on two hits and a walk, junior RHP Koen Berry locked in, shoving throughout the next four innings to give his team a chance.
- The Bulldogs struck first in game two, scoring a run in the home half of the first on a two-out double.
- Hitless through four innings, Cougar third baseman Max French led off the fifth with a double to left. Two batters later, Corbin Napier drove him in with an RBI double to right, knotting the game at 1-1.
- Freshman RHP Jacob Forson came on to start the sixth, delivering a quick 1-2-3 inning to give the Cougars a chance to take the lead in the seventh.
- Anthony Nino led off the inning for IUK with a single to right field, but the Cougars were erased in order two batters later as Payton Hankins lined into a double play.
- Asa Christie took over in the bottom of the seventh, but the Bulldogs struck immediately with a solo home run to left, walking it off for a 2-1 win.

- Koen Berry pitched five innings of one-run ball Thursday afternoon, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out three.
- Anthony Nino, Max French, and Corbin Napier each notched a hit in game two's pitchers' duel. Napier drove in IU Kokomo's first RBI of the year with a double that plated Max French.
- Jacob Forson made an immediate impact in his collegiate debut, retiring the side on just seven pitches, inducing two fly-outs and a ground-out.
