ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Indiana University Kokomo junior thrower Gabe Wedmore earned All-American honors Wednesday morning in the hammer throw at the 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, hosted by University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Wedmore placed eighth overall out of 22 competitors, securing All-America status with a final throw of 58.25 meters. His mark on the final attempt of the competition moved him from ninth into eighth place, with the top eight finishers earning All-American honors.
The junior battled throughout the competition before delivering in the clutch on his final trip into the ring, extending IU Kokomo's success on the national stage this season. Prior to his final attempt, Wedmore motioned to the crowd for energy, prompting a slow clap from his teammates that helped fuel the All-American-clinching throw.
Wedmore will return to action Thursday afternoon in the shot put at 1:00 p.m., where he will compete alongside three fellow Cougar throwers—Isaac Ireland, Evan Gaylor, and Seth Ireland—as IU Kokomo continues competition at the national meet.
