KANSAS CITY, Mo. - IU Kokomo men's basketball standout freshman
Alonzo Clawson-Smith has been named a North selection to the inaugural NABC All-Region Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The first-ever NABC NAIA All-Region Teams are comprised of 15 players from each of NAIA men's basketball's five regions. Players selected to the All-Region Teams automatically become finalists for the NABC NAIA All-America Teams.
Freshman guard
Alonzo Clawson-Smith (Lafayette, Ind./Lafayette Jeff HS) put together a stellar freshman campaign for the Cougars, helping lead the team to its fifth RSC West Division title and seventh-straight 20-win season while earning First Team All-RSC honors.
Clawson-Smith capped his freshman season with 488 points in 26 games, adding 156 assists, 144 rebounds, and 53 steals. He averaged 18.8 points, six assists, 5.5 rebounds, and two steals per game while shooting 78 percent from the free-throw line. As a result, his name currently appears eight times in the IU Kokomo men's basketball record book.
Two other River States Conference student-athletes earned All-Region honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches, as Trent Hinkle of IU Southeast and Delon McCloud of Rio Grande were also recognized. To view the NABC All-Region Teams in full, click
