Men's Basketball Season Ends with First Round Loss at No. 14 Georgetown Friday

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The IU Kokomo men's basketball team saw its impressive 2025–26 season come to an end Friday night, as the No. 14 seed Cougars fell to No. 3 seed and 14th-ranked Georgetown in the First Round of the NAIA Men's Basketball Championship.

THE RUNDOWN 
  • The first half of Friday's contest proved to be fairly high scoring, as Georgetown jumped out to a 12–8 lead by the under-15 media timeout before IU Kokomo responded with four straight points from Joseph Annan Jr. to take an 18–16 advantage.
  • Tied at 25 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half, Ty Wills drained a three-pointer before Alonzo Clawson-Smith soared for a monstrous dunk, giving the Cougars a five-point lead, their largest of the night.
  • Holding a 32–29 lead over Georgetown with 6:44 remaining in the half, the Cougars saw the Tigers close the period on a 13–5 run to take a 42–37 lead into halftime.
  • Georgetown controlled play in the second half, coming out of the locker room with energy after finishing the first half strong, extending their lead to double-digits by the 15:42 mark of the second half.
  • The Tiger lead never dipped below double digits the rest of the way, as No. 14 Georgetown comfortably closed out an 86–73 win over IU Kokomo to advance to Saturday's Second Round.

LEADING THE CHARGE
  • Junior guard Ty Wills led the Cougars with a strong offensive performance, scoring a team-high 23 points while adding five rebounds. Wills also knocked down all three of IU Kokomo's three-pointers, as the Cougars finished just 3-for-17 from deep.
  • The Cougars leaned heavily on three players for much of the night, with only seven seeing action, as Alonzo Clawson-Smith delivered an electric 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists while shooting 7-for-10 from the field.
  • Joseph Annan Jr. turned in a solid performance, totaling 18 points and seven boards to close out the trio of Cougars who made a large impact.
