NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Indiana University Kokomo men's and women's cross country teams were recognized for their success in the classroom this past fall, as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Athletes. Both IU Kokomo programs earned team honors, with one Cougar also receiving individual recognition.
To earn USTFCCCA recognition, teams must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. IU Kokomo's men's cross country team posted a 3.08 GPA for the fall semester, while the women recorded a 3.23 GPA, resulting in All-Academic Team honors for both programs. The distinction marks the second consecutive year that both the men's and women's teams have received the honor.
Leslie Sprankles, a senior from Bluffton, Indiana, earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors for her excellence in the classroom. To qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and achieve an automatic or provisional qualifying mark during the indoor or outdoor season.
