MADISON, Ill. - The IU Kokomo Women's Golf team made the trip to the St. Louis area to compete after seeing Midway's tournament canceled due to weather, as they are competing in the University of Health Sciences & Pharamacy's Spring Invitational at Gateway National Golf Links.
IU Kokomo, led by second year Head Coach
Brandi Jones, currently sits second of seven teams after one round. The Cougars shot a 335 (+51) in Monday's opening round, trailing Columbia College (Mo.) by 14 strokes ahead of Tuesday's final round while leading third-place Lincoln (Mo.) by 23 strokes.
The Cougars were led by upperclassmen
Hailey Stegemann and Anna Hutchings in Monday's first round, as both find themselves inside the Top-10 with 18 holes remaining. Stegemann fired an opening round 80 (+9) to sit two shots back of the lead in a tie for third, while Hutchings followed with an 81 (+10) to find herself in a two-way tie for seventh.
Chloe Crook delivered the Cougars third lowest score on the day, shooting an 85 (+15) to sit in 13th.
Stefanie Dickerson and
Carly Chandler rounded out the IU Kokomo lineup by carding an 88 (+18) and 89 (+19) respectively.
The Cougars will return to the Gateway National Golf Links tomorrow to close out the UHSP Spring Invitational, teeing it up at 9:15 AM ET.
