WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The IU Kokomo Men's Outdoor Track & Field team opened their 2025 season this weekend in Kentucky, competing in University of the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet.

Freshman thrower Isaac Ireland led the Cougars on the weekend, placing inside the top-seven in Shot Put, Discus, and Hammer Throw in the first collegiate outdoor meet of his career. His best finish came in Discus, where he finished third with a mark of 43.72 meters, as he led a trio of Cougars who finished inside the top-five in the event.

Isaac would also finish fourth in Shot Put with a throw of 14.73 meters and seventh in Hammer Throw with a toss of 44.72 meters.

Seth Ireland, Isaac's older brother, finished one spot behind his brother in both Discus and Shot Put while besting him in Hammer Throw by a spot. Seth finished sixth in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 44.92 meters, fifth in Shot Put with a toss of 13.89 meters, and fourth in Discus with a throw of 42.54 meters.

Rhett Berryman was the third Cougar inside the top-five in Discus, finishing fifth with a throw of 42.34 meters.

Freshman Bryce Salgat posted a time of 27:00.10 in the 5K Racewalk, good for fifth, while junior distance runner Bryce Stateler finished sixth in the 5K with a time of 16:02.79.

Jackson Money finished fifth in the High Jump in his first collegiate outdoor meet, clearing 1.75 meters.

Seth Ireland now sits second all-time in the IU Kokomo record books with his strong mark in Hammer Throw. Bryce Salgat (5K Racewalk), Jackson Money (High Jump), and Isaac Ireland (Hammer Throw) all improved to third all-time in IU Kokomo history in their respective outdoor events over the weekend, while Ayden Potts (800 Meter), Isaac Ireland (Shot Put & Discus), and Rhett Berryman (Hammer Throw) improved to fourth all-time.

The Cougars will head to South Carolina this week as they will take to Myrtle Beach while on Spring Break to compete in the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
