Sydney Duncan Named USTFCCCA NAIA National Women's Field Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La. - IU Kokomo sophomore thrower Sydney Duncan, fresh off winning the 2025 NAIA Indoor National Championship in Shot Put, has earned a pair of postseason awards. The awards were announced last week by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Duncan, a native of Anderson, Indiana and graduate of Frankton High School, was named the USTFCCCA's 2025 NAIA National Women's Field Athlete of the Year, in addition to earning USTFCCCA All-America Honors.

After dominating the NAIA for the entirety of the 2024-2025 season, Sydney reigned supreme at the Indoor National Championships in Gainesville, Florida, turning in a lifetime best throw of 17.60 meters. Her worst throw of the meet proved better than anyone else's best, showcasing her level of talent.

Sydney notched the seven longest throws recorded in the NAIA this season, making her one of the top 20 female throwers in the nation whether it be at NCAA Division I, II, or III levels, or here at the vastly underrated NAIA level.

She is now a three-time NAIA All-American in Shot Put, and will enter the upcoming Outdoor Track and Field season as a favorite to bring home the Shot Put title at the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, hosted in nearby Marion on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
