MARION, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo men's cross country team kicked off their 2024 season Friday evening in Marion, as they competed in the 22-team Indiana Wesleyan Twilight Invitational.
The Cougars finished 16th with a total team time of 2:17:22.80, while nearby Taylor University won the team title with 62 points and a total time of 2:07:13.90. The following six IU Kokomo men set personal best times Friday evening:
Ayden Potts,
Isaiah Wittenberg,
Alex Carie,
Jacob Bumgardner,
Bryce Salgat, and
Cale Webb.
Bryce Stateler paced the IU Kokomo men in the first meet of the season, finishing 66th with a time of 26:34.60.
Experienced veteran
Luis Saldana crossed the finish line 110th with a time of 27:25.20, while Greentown's
Caleb Vogl followed with a time of 27:30.40, good for 119th.
Freshmen Ayden Pottts and
Isaiah Wittenberg delivered the Cougars final two counting times for the top-five, as Potts finished 144th with a time of 27:55.40 and Wittenberg trailed in 146th in a time of 27:57.20.

The Cougars will return to competition two weeks from yesterday, September 20th, as they will compete on the 2024 National Championship course as part of Columbia College's Larry Young Invite.
