SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's golf team utilized a strong final round to climb two-spots up the leaderboard and finish fourth in the Battle at Blackthorn, hosted by Bethel (Ind.) at Blackthorn Golf Club.
The Cougars team score improved by 15-strokes in the second round, as they finished with a two-round total of 693 after a final round 339. The host Pilots took home the team title, winning by 14-strokes over Grace College with a two-round total of 627.
Looking to bounce back from a tough first round, reigning RSC Player of the Week
Hailey Stegemann went eight-strokes better in Tuesday's final round, vaulting her to solo-eighth with a final round 76 (+4).
Annastasia Hutchings finished just inside the Top-20 in 19th, pairing rounds of 84-87 for a two-round total of 171 (+27).
Freshman
Stefanie Dickerson also showed great improvement from round one to round two, as she shot a final round 86 (+14), nine-shots lower than her first round score. Dickerson finished T-36.
Sophomore classmates
Carly Chandler and
Chloe Crook finished in a tie for 39th with two-round totals of 186 (+42). Crook delivered IUK's final counting score of the final round, a 90 (+18).

The Cougars will next be in action in West Virginia September 23rd and 24th, as they will compete on the River States Conference Championship course as part of the RSC Fall Preview.
