EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's cross country team finished fifth of ten teams in Saturday mornings River States Conference Championship Meet. The meet was hosted by Oakland City and held at Angel Mounds.
The Cougars finished fifth with 140 points, 40 back of fourth-place Midway and 57 clear of sixth-place SMWC. Shawnee State won the team title by a narrow margin over Rio Grande, while IU East followed in third.Â
Freshman
Isaiah Wittenberg led IUK in Saturday's race, finishing 28th in a time of 27:16.0 to close out a solid freshman season.
Four Cougar student-athletes finished between 32nd and 39th, beginning with senior
Caleb Vogl. Vogl finished 32nd with a time of 27:38.2.
Bryce Stateler and
Steven Case finished consecutively in 35th and 36th, with Stateler crossing in a time of 27:51.6 and Case following with a time of 27:57.7.
Isaiah Kanable rounded out the IU Kokomo top-five, as he finished 39th in a time of 28:01.2.
Freeshman
Ayden Potts finished inside the top-50, crossing the line with a time 28:38.6, good for 49th.
Drew Lovelace finished two spots back of Potts with a time of 28:45.7.
Luis Saldana and
Alex Carie closed out their IU Kokomo cross country career with 56th and 69th place finishes respectively.
Bryce Salgat and
Charlie Conkle followed in 75th and 77th, while another senior in
Nathan Lozoya finished 82nd.
Kyle Thibideau and Jacob Bumgarner closed out the IU Kokomo lineup in 85th and 86th.
With no Cougars advancing to the NAIA National Championship meet in Missouri, that wraps up the 2024 IU Kokomo men's cross country season.

Caleb Vogl will be competing at the NAIA Marathon Classic (12/8) in Sacramento, ran in conjunction with the Caifornia International Marathon.
