LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Cougar men's cross country team was back in action on Saturday in Louisville. The squad had a historic day as they earned their highest finish in school history at the always competitive Live in the Lou Cross Country Classic.

IU Kokomo's ninth place finish was the result of an average team time of 27:15. The Cougars had a very impressive race that included only a 27 second gap between runners one and five.  

Sophomore Bryce Stateler continued his strong season by leading the way for the Cougars, finishing 53rd with a time of 27:01.2.  

Freshmen classmates Steven Case and Jonas Brooks would be the next two Cougars to finish with times of 27:09 and 27:14 respectively. 

Luis Saldana and Caleb Vogl rounded out the top-five for IUK. 

Here is what head Coach Josh Colvin had to say about the men's impressive performance on Saturday: "We had a historic day as we finished the highest we have ever finished at this race. I was happy with where we finished considering we raced NCAA Division 1, 2, 3 and NAIA teams. The heat got to us a little, so our times were not where we wanted to be, but we competed well. In the end that is all that matters.

The Cougars will return to competition on October 13, as they will travel to Bradley University to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic.
