Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at RSC Meet; Luis Saldana Finishes Sixth to Clinch Berth to National Championships

KOKOMO, Ind. – The IU Kokomo men's cross country team finished the 2022 season Saturday with a second-place finish in the River States Conference meet that featured tough conditions including wind and rain. Junior Luis Saldana finished in sixth-place to advance to the NAIA XC Championships as an individual.

IU East won the 2022 RSC meet Saturday morning with a team score of 36. IU Kokomo finished with a team score of 73, 15 points clear of third-place Ohio Christian. Midway's Jacob Kocis won the meet as an individual with a time of 26:25.20.

Luis Saldana punched his ticket to the NAIA XC Championships for a second-straight year with a sixth-place finish. Saldana crossed the line with a time of 27:28.20.

Senior Cyrus Felger earned a top-ten finish Saturday to round out his career. Felger finished tenth with a time of 27:37.21.

Nathan Lozoya and Drew Caldwell were the final two Cougar runners to finish inside the top-20 Saturday. Lozoya finished 17th with a time of 28:11.70 and Caldwell followed in 18th with a time of 28:12.30.

Freshman Bryce Stateler rounded out the IUK top-five with a 27th place finish. Stateler finished with a time of 28:31.21.
