Megnin Breaks Record, Wedmore and Webb Hit "B" Standards During Weekend Meets at Marian and Rose-Hulman

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. & TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's track and field team competed in a pair of meets over the weekend, highlighted by Darrius Megnin setting a new school record and both Cale Webb and. Gabe Wedmore earning a spot at outdoor nationals with "B" standards.

THE RUNDOWN
  • Upperclassman thrower Gabe Wedmore threw a personal best in the shot put Friday at Marian, finishing second with a mark of 15.8 meters. He followed that performance on Saturday with a win in the hammer throw at Rose Hulman, posting a "B" standard mark of 56.32 meters. The mark now ranks him first in the River States Conference and seventh in the nation, while also setting a new all-time facility record at Rose-Hulman's Cook Stadium/Welch Track.
  • First-year Cougar Darrius Megnin set a new school record in the 110-meter hurdles Friday at Marian, crossing the finish line in 15.70 seconds. He also excelled in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing fifth with a time of 57.54 seconds, which moved him up to third all-time in school history in the event.
  • Cale Webb was another standout for the Cougars over the weekend, hitting a "B" standard with a personal-best time of 25:28.75 in the 8K. The performance moves him to second all-time in program history and currently ranks 15th in the nation.
  • Several Cougars impressed in the 5K Friday in Indianapolis, led by Drew Lovelace, who finished in 15:33.62 to move into second all-time in program history. Freshman Daylen Schrock set a new IU Kokomo freshman record with a time of 15:48.78, while fellow freshman Jeremiah Miles finished just behind him.
  • Fellow distance runner Steven Case moved into fourth all-time in school history in the 1500 meters, finishing with a personal-best time of 4:12.76.
  • Rhett Berryman turned in a strong performance Friday at Marian in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 51.93 meters that moves him into third all-time in program history.
  • Fellow thrower Evan Gaylor moved into fourth all-time in program history in the shot put after a throw of 15.20 meters Saturday in Terre Haute, earning him a second-place finish in the event.

THE ROAD AHEAD 
  • The Cougars will return to action Thursday at Olivet Nazarene before competing Friday and Saturday at Indiana State's Pacesetter Open.
