MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. & MARION, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's track and field team competed in a pair of optional meets over Spring Break last week, with some Cougars traveling to Myrtle Beach while others stayed closer to home to compete in Marion over the weekend.

THE RUNDOWN
- Mavrick Griffin provided a highlight by breaking his own school record in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 16.27 to set a new program mark.
- Rico Ortiz continued his strong start to the outdoor season, moving to second all-time in program history in the 400 meters with a time of 49.83 and fifth all-time in the long jump with a mark of 6.20 meters.
- Freshman distance runner Jeremiah Miles turned in another strong performance at Indiana Wesleyan over the weekend, setting a freshman record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 10:07.39 that ranks second in program history. Teammate Steven Case is now third all-time in the event.
- Ayden Potts broke through in South Carolina, moving to third all-time in program history in the 800 meters with a time of 1:59.36.
- Drew Lovelace shined in the 10,000 meters in Myrtle Beach, moving to third all-time in program history with a time of 33:08.54, good for sixth place in a field of 25.
- Jacob Sayger delivered a strong performance in the hammer throw, setting a personal-best mark of 41.40 meters, which ranks fifth all-time in school history for the event.

Mavrick Griffin broke his own school record in the 110H and our distance squad showed out in the 10k and the 3k Steeplechase. Ayden Potts broke 2:00 in the 800m for the first time in his career and Rico Ortiz broke 50 in the 400m for the first time in his career.
