WHITING, Ind. & JOLIET, Ill. - The IU Kokomo women's basketball team played a pair of road games in a span of 24 hours Friday and Saturday, winning Friday by 10 at CCSJ before falling by 13 Saturday at St. Francis (Ill.).
11/15 @ Calumet College of St. Joseph - 65-55 win
The Cougars opened up the weekend strong, outscoring the Crimson Wave 22-12 in the opening quarter to take a 10-point lead into the second.
IU Kokomo led by as many as 14 in the second quarter Friday, but CCSJ slowly chipped away at the deficit, pulling within four with 25 seconds to play in the first half. With three seconds remaining, junior guard
Chloe McClain knocked down a jumper, making it a 36-30 halftime lead for the Cougars.
Friday's second half proved to be lower-scoring than the opening 20 minutes, as their were 27 points scored in each of the final two quarters. IU Kokomo led by double-digits for much of the third period, but the Crimson Wave scored the final five points to trail 49-44 with 10 minutes to play.
Calumet College of St. Joseph trimmed the IUK lead to two on a couple occasions early in the fourth, however the Cougars rebuilt the lead to double-digits with just over four minutes to play.
Head coach Lisa Pflueger's squad closed out a 65-55 road win, the program's second win and first road win of the season.
McClain finished with a game-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists, while
Kelsi Langley added 10 points and six rebounds. Seven other Cougars scored in the win.
11/16 @ St. Francis (Ill.)Â - 77-63 loss
After a strong outing Friday night for IU Kokomo, McClain delivered yet again Saturday, scoring a career high 36 points in a losing effort in Joliet.

Anna Kiser and
Moriah Crawford for the weekend.
IU Kokomo scored the first six points of the game, as Langley opened with a layup and McClain followed with a pair of buckets in the paint. The Fighting Saints battled back to take their first lead of the game at 10-9, but the Cougars outscored them 9-4 to close the first quarter with a four-point lead.Â
After St. Francis pulled even yet again early in the second quarter, the two squads traded buckets for the remainder of the half. The Cougars and Fighting Saints were even at 37 at halftime of Saturday's contest.
The third quarter proved to be the lowest-scoring quarter of the game, as St. Francis outscored IU Kokomo 16-15. The Cougars led by two in the final moments of the third, but a Fighting Saints triple in the closing seconds gave them a one-point lead through three quarters.
McClain drilled a triple on the Cougars second possession of the fourth, re-taking a two-point lead before a USF layup evened things back up at 55 apiece. From then on it was all Fighting Saints though, as they closed the game on a 22-8 run to win 77-63.
The Cougars are next in action on Wednesday, December 4th, as they will get rested and healthy before returning to action at Grace Christian University.
