The Cougars enter the week 11-7 overall and 3-0 in RSC play, and are winners of five-straight after sweeping Oakland City in the opening series of RSC play this past weekend. IUK's fifth-consecutive win came Tuesday in their mid-week opener, as they beat IUPUC in a high-scoring game.
Three different IU Kokomo pitchers have earned River States Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week honors to this point in the season, but the offense has been no slouch. Left-handed hitting 1B/DH
Jarod Gillespie leads IUK with a batting average of .486 and an on-base percentage of .600, prior to Tuesday's game.
Tucker Platt and
Riley Garczynski are both hitting over .300 and
Luke Barnes has hit six home-runs through 17 games.
IU Southeast comes into the week unranked with a record of 4-11 after beginning the season ranked #18 in the NAIA Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Grenadiers dropped two of three this past weekend to Rio Grande in their first conference series of the season.
The Cougars are 3-11 all-time against the Grenadiers, winning game two of last year's series in extra innings after scoring ten runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game.
