The Cougars are set to begin a busy stretch of play impacted by impending weather. The Cougars enter this important River States Conference series with Midway on the backs of a big-time 13-4 win over a Georgetown College team receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
IU Kokomo is 16-11 overall on the year and 7-4 in River States Conference play. The Cougars had won two of three conference series prior to this past weekend, as Ohio Christian took two of three from IU Kokomo.
Midway is second in the River States Conference standings coming into the weekend, while IU Kokomo is fourth. The Eagles are 9-3 while the Cougars are 7-4, providing an opportunity for IU Kokomo to gain ground in the regular season standings.
The Eagles of Midway come into the week with an overall record of 15-13, but as mentioned, Midway has been strong in conference action. The Eagles won two of three games this past weekend at Rio Grande, but dropped a non-conference home game to Union College (Ky.) 12-6 on Tuesday.
IU Kokomo is 8-8 all-time against Midway, with the last matchup coming in the opening game of last year's River States Conference Tournament.
Georgetown will host IU Kokomo for a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon and the Cougars will have another chance to earn some prominent non-conference wins. Georgetown is receiving votes for the top-25 and lost to the Cougars in Kokomo earlier this week. The Tigers are 18-11 overall and 6-6 in Midsouth Conference play.
The Cougars are 4-3 all-time against the Tigers.
