BECKLEY, W.V. – The IUK women's basketball team fell 93-74 Saturday afternoon at West Virginia Tech. The loss was not without a bright spot however, as freshman
Emma Good had a career high 16 points and 11 different Cougars scored.
After falling behind 2-0, four-straight points from
Shamaria Walker gave IU Kokomo an early 4-2 lead. While leading 7-6, West Virginia Tech went on a 8-0 run to extend their lead to nine. The Golden Bears led 21-13 after the first quarter.
IU Kokomo trailed 23-17 early in the second quarter, before seven quick points from WVU Tech gave them a 30-17 lead. An
Ella Wolfe three-pointer with 1:21 to go in the half cut the deficit to nine, but the Golden Bears took a 38-27 lead into halftime.
The Cougars started the second half strong, scoring eight of the first ten points of the half to pull within five points at 40-35. Leading 45-37, WVU Tech utilized a 7-0 run to build their lead to 15. The Golden Bears managed to add on to their lead for the remainder of the period, and led 69-47 after three quarters.
The fourth quarter proved to be high-scoring and fast-paced, and saw IUK outscore WVU Tech 27-24. West Virginia Tech extended their lead as high as 27, but a triple from
Sammy Provenzano cut the deficit to 18 late in the game. The Golden Bears outlasted the Cougars, winning 93-74.

Kristen Ridner followed with 12 points.
Lilly Maple and
Olivia Dowden each added eight points.
Alaya Chapman had seven points and ten rebounds while freshman guard Anna Wolfe had seven points and eight rebounds.
The Cougars will return home to prepare for two home games in three days, beginning this Thursday against Carlow University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 P.M.
