KOKOMO, Ind. - The IUK women's basketball team fell to the Carlow Celtics by a score of 78-69 Thursday Night.
After a 4-0 start for Carlow, the Cougars propelled themselves to an early 13-8 lead, led by a pair of three-pointers from junior
Kristen Ridner. The Cougars would hold this lead until nearly the midway point of the second quarter. IU Kokomo took a 35-31 lead into halftime.
Carlow once again had a hot start to the second half, going on an 11-2 run through the first two minutes. The Cougars stormed back to take a 57-56 lead by the end of the quarter, punctuated by a pair of free throws by
Ella Wolfe and yet another triple from
Kristen Ridner.
Late fouls proved fatal for the Cougars, as the Celtics scored nine free throws in the final five minutes of the game after the score was tied at 64. Carlow ultimately outlasted IU Kokomo 78-69.
The Cougars were led offensively by
Kristen Ridner and
Mia Catey, who scored 13 points each.
Anna Kiser also scored 11 points.
The Cougars will have a short turnaround, as they will be back-in-action Saturday at home, hosting Point Park University. Tip-off is set for 5:30.
