OWENSBORO, Ky. - The IU Kokomo women's soccer team's first River States Conference road matchup of the year ended in a 2-2 draw. The Cougars trailed Brescia 2-0 at one point, but
Kelsi Hoot scored twice to tie the match. The Cougars are now 5-1-3, and 1-0-1 in River States Conference play.
Skylar Mannon had two shots on goal saved by the goalkeeper in the opening 15 minutes of the match.
Brescia's Geneva Hann gave the Bearcats a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute of the match. Less than ten minutes later, the Bearcats would strike again for a 2-0 lead. Duda Feres scored via a Geneva Hann assist.
Kelsi Hoot scored for the Cougs in the 37th minute to cut the Brescia lead in half. Freshman
Kaiya Bogers assisted on the Hoot goal.
Hoot would score again less than two minutes after her first goal of the match. Hoot's goal in the 38th minute, her third of the season, tied the match at two. IU Kokomo and Brescia entered halftime tied at two.
Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the second half, with the match ending in a 2-2 draw. IU Kokomo had by far more scoring chances in the second half, but were unable to cash in.
The Cougars will be back-in-action Thursday, September 29, as they will host Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Kickoff is set for 5:00 P.M.
