KOKOMO, Ind. – The IU Kokomo women's soccer team shut-out Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Thursday evening with a 1-0 win. The Cougars are now 6-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in River States Conference play.
IU Kokomo outshot SMWC 45-7, and 21-3 in shots on goal. SMWC goalkeeper Kaylee Thaler made multiple stellar saves, limiting the Cougars to a single goal despite IUK dominating possession.
The Cougars managed multiple shots in the opening ten minutes of the match, including three on goal, but were unable to cash in. IUK controlled play for much of the first half, but the match remained scoreless heading into halftime.

Kailee Moore was only forced to make one save in the first half.
In the 52nd minute of the match,
Skylar Mannon drew a foul on the Pomeroys, giving IUK a free kick.
Ashlyn Morefield took the free kick, sending a ball into the box where
Morgan Scruggs sent a touch pass to
Keely Hoopingarner, who calmly put it in the back of the net.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead on Hoopingarner's 13th goal of the season. Morefield and Scruggs notched their first assist of the season on the play.
IU Kokomo had multiple chances to add on to their lead in the remaining minutes of the match, including a penalty kick in the 86th minute, however the Cougars were unable to find the back of the net.

Kailee Moore made two second half saves in the 1-0 win, the third shut-out win of her career.
The Cougars will be in action next Thursday, October 6, as they are set to hit the road to take on Rio Grande. Kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M.
