Lisa Pflueger was named the fifth head coach in Indiana University Kokomo women’s basketball program history prior to the 2024-25 season after serving the majority of the 2023-24 campaign as interim head coach. Since taking over the program, Pflueger has helped guide IU Kokomo through a significant rebuild, leading the Cougars to consecutive double-digit win seasons after the program totaled just three wins during the 2022-23 campaign.
In her first full season as head coach during the 2024-25 campaign, Pflueger guided the Cougars to a 12-15 overall record while continuing to establish the foundation and culture of the program. IU Kokomo followed with another competitive season in 2025-26, once again posting 12 victories with a 12-14 overall record on its way to the program’s first River States Conference Tournament appearance since 2019-2020 season.
Pflueger initially stepped into the interim head coaching role during the 2023-24 season, helping stabilize the program while leading the Cougars to an eight win season. Her leadership and vision during the interim period ultimately led to her being named the program’s permanent head coach.
“I'm thrilled for Lisa to lead our women's basketball program,” Director of Athletics Heather Hayes said following Pflueger’s hiring. “Her strong performance during her three months in the interim role showcased her abilities, and I'm eagerly anticipating what she'll achieve with more time. Lisa's love for Kokomo, her passion for the game, and her genuine dedication to our program stood out during the search process.”
Prior to becoming head coach at IU Kokomo, Pflueger served as an assistant coach within the program while also building an extensive coaching résumé throughout Indiana high school basketball. Her experience includes head coaching stints at both Western and Rochester High Schools, along with varsity assistant coaching positions at Carmel and Kokomo High School.
“I am blessed and I give all glory to God,” Pflueger said following her appointment as head coach. “He has prepared me for this opportunity. We will build a program with our wonderful student-athletes to make IU Kokomo and our community proud.”
A graduate of the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), Pflueger earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in mathematics while competing as a two-sport student-athlete in both basketball and softball for the Patriots.
