Pair of First Career Goals Lead Women's Soccer to 2-1 Win at Georgetown (Ky.)

KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's soccer team earned their second-consecutive win and first road win of the season Wednesday night in Kentucky, as a pair of first career goalscorers led the Cougars to a 2-1 win over Georgetown (Ky.).

THE RUNDOWN 
  • After a fairly even start to the match, the Cougars found the scoreboard first in the 22nd minute. Sophomore Kaiya Money notched her first career goal to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead,  picking up a loose ball and beating the goalkeeper with a shot from 12 yards out.
  • Leading 1-0 coming out of halftime, IU Kokomo maintained control in the early minutes of the second half, with Gia Tumber sending a shot off the post in the 48th minute.
  • The Cougs earned a corner kick in the 64th minute, leading to freshman Avery Wilson collecting a loose ball off of the corner and scoring off of an assist from Charity Lewis. The goal is the first of Wilson's career.
  • Trailing 2-0 down the stretch, the Tigers made things interesting with a goal in the 84th minute, however IU Kokomo held on to beat Georgetown 2-1 to improve to 2-1-1 on the season.

LEADING THE CHARGE
  • Kaiya Money led the Cougars offensively Wednesday, putting a pair of shots on goal en-route to scoring her first college goal.
  • Avery Wilson recorded one of IU Kokomo's remaining three-shots on frame, notching her first collegiate goal just four matches into her career.
  • Senior goalkeeper Kailee Moore stopped seven of eight shots faced on the evening, earning her second victory of the season.
