Women's Soccer Settles for Draw at McPherson Thursday Night

MCPHERSON, Kan. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's soccer team opened the season Thursday night in "The Sunflower State," playing the McPherson College Bulldogs to a scoreless draw.

THE RUNDOWN 
  • With Thursday's match being both team's season opener, a slow start was not out of the cards. 
  • McPherson earned a pair of corner kicks in the opening 10 minutes before having a pair of shots blocked by the IU Kokomo defense.
  • The Cougars found some offensive footing just past the 15 minute mark, with Kaiya Bogers recording the lone shot on goal of the half in the 17th minute.
  • IU Kokomo came out of halftime with a pair of shots and a corner kick, eventually recording three shots on target in the middle of the second half. 
  • Veteran goalkeeper Kailee Moore made a save in the 83rd minute, as the Cougars and Bulldogs settled for a 0-0 draw.

LEADING THE CHARGE
  • IU Kokomo mustered four shots on goal over the course of 90 minutes, with Emily Monsour, Kaiya Bogers, Kaiya Money, and Gia Tumber each responsible for one.
  • Money, a sophomore out of nearby Tipton, Indiana, finished the night with three total shots. Monsour was the lone other Cougar with double-digit shots (2).
  • Senior goalie Kailee Moore stopped each of McPherson's two shots on frame, earning her first shut-out of the young season.
