KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo Baseball team saw their ten-game River States Conference winning-streak come to an end Saturday, dropping both games of the doubleheader to Brescia (Ky.) after winning Friday's series opener.
With just one River States Conference series remaining and only two weeks left in the regular season, the Cougars are currently 17-22 overall and 11-9 in RSC action.
Game One: 10-2 Victory (Nine Innings)
	- After falling behind early thanks to a pair of first-inning runs from Brescia, Friday's series opener proved to be all IU Kokomo after the Cougars tied things up at 2-2 through three complete behind RBIs from Gavin Smith and Mason Janz. 
- The Cougars took the lead behind an RBI single from Alex Janke in the 6th, and didn't look back after that. 
- They added another in the 7th via a sacrifice fly off the bat of Kasey Ross, scoring his fellow Floridian Mason Janz to extend the Cougar lead to 4-2. 
- The Cougar bats got hot in the 8th, as they scored six runs in the frame. Alex Janke got things going as he singled home Noah Wolf. Mason Janz continued his hot day as he doubled home two more runs. Jacob Medvescek then followed Janz's double with a monster two-run blast to right field in the following at-bat. The Cougars scored their tenth and final run of the game on a bases loaded walk from Noah Wolf, bringing home Payton Hankins. 
Pitching Notables:
	- Brett Huiner continued his outstanding run during conference play, firing off seven stellar innings as he struck out five batters while only surrendering two runs (1 ER) on his way to earning his fifth win of the year. 
- Nathan Stanley (8th) and Ethan Leslie (9th) came in and each threw a scoreless frame, shutting down the Bearcat bats. 
Game Two: 8-5 Loss (Nine Innings)
	- Brescia kept the Cougar bats quiet for the majority of the game, as they were leading 7-0 headed into the home half of the 7th. 
- IUK finally got on the scoreboard as Brayden Coffey tripled, and Luke Hanson brought him home on a sacrifice fly one batter later. 
- Brescia added another run in the top of the 8th, extending their lead to 8-1. 
- The Cougars made a push in the bottom half of the frame, starting with a bases clearing triple from Jacob Medvescek, scoring Mason Janz, Gavin Smith, and Alex Janke. IUK tallied another run later in the frame as Medvescek scored on an RBI ground out from Payton Hankins. 
Pitching Notables:
	- The defensive side of the ball was highlighted by Justin Bultemeier's return to the mound from injury. In his long awaited return, Bultemeier tossed a scoreless frame, fanning one. 
- Junior Asa Christie threw 1.2 innings in relief, striking out one and surrendering a single run. 
Game Three: 7-2 Loss (Seven Innings)
	- Brescia jumped out to a hot start in the series finale, as they led 6-0 after three complete. 
- The Cougars finally broke their scoring drought on an RBI ground out from Jacob Medvescek, scoring Mason Janz.
- IUK added another run in the fifth as Payton Hankins blasted his fifth home run of the year, cutting the Bearcat lead to four. 
- Brescia added insurance in the 7th and ultimately slammed the door closed, as the Cougars went down in order in the bottom half of the inning. 
Pitching Notables:
	- Logan Greer went three innings as the starter, striking out five in his appearance. 
- Koen Berry came on in relief, throwing four inning and only giving up one run while striking out a pair of Brescia batters. 
The Cougars will return to action this week for a pair of mid-week match-ups against in-state foes, beginning Tuesday at Kokomo Municipal Stadium with a 2:00 PM first pitch against the Marian Knights (Ind.). IUK will then head to Fort Wayne to take on the Warriors of Indiana Tech Wednesday afternoon.
