CROWN POINT, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's soccer team picked up a second-consecutive win Wednesday night inside the Sparta Dome, edging the RedHawks of IU Northwest 1-0 thanks to a goal in the 78th minute. With their first road win of the young season, IU Kokomo improves to 2-2 overall.

In what proved to be a fairly even match, it was IU Northwest out-shooting IU Kokomo 16-8 and 11-6 in shots on goal.

IU Kokomo supplied some attacking pressure early in the match, forcing the home squad's goalie to make three saves in the opening 15 minutes before they found some offensive footing of their own. 

Both Kaiya Bogers and Kaiya Money had quality scoring chances in the 24th minute, however the score remained knotted 0-0 thru 45 minutes.

The second half of Wednesday's non-conference matchup was much more defensive minded, as there were just five total shots on goal in the final 45 minutes. 

IU Kokomo's Mackenzie Gibbons would finally open the scoring in the 78th minute, as the senior midfielder scored her first goal of the season off a Kelsi Hoot assist to give the Cougs a late 1-0 lead.

The RedHawks managed to test the IUK goalkeeper once more in the 85th minute, but veteran Kailee Moore had the answer. The Noblesville product was perfect in net for a second-consecutive match, saving all 11 IU Northwest shots on target.

The Cougars of IU Kokomo will return home to host the Saint Xavier Cougars Saturday evening for a 5:00 PM kick-off at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.
