MARION, Ind. - The Cougars traveled to nearby Indiana Wesleyan University to compete in the Midwest Classic meet. The meet had a very large field size of 24 teams and made for an extremely competitive meet in every event. The men's team competed very well against this strong competition and grabbed several top-eight finishes.
Freshmen Hayden Nelson finished eighth in the 60m dash finals in a time of 7.03. Fellow freshmen classmates Brayden Voght and Steven Case finished fourth and seventh in the 400m dash respectively. Case also battled to a fifth-place finish in the 800m run in a time of 1:59.69.
Senior Julian Wallace ran a very impressive race in the 600m with a third-place finish and time of 1:23.33. This performance was just half a second away from hitting the NAIA "B" Standard. Wallace will have two more chances this indoor season to punch his ticket to the National Championships.
Senior Nolan Talley had a strong performance by beating his own school record in high jump and finishing third overall in the meet with a height of 1.87m.
Evan Gaylor had another impressive shot put performance with a fourth place finish and a mark of 15.38m.
