KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo baseball team dropped both games of Sunday's doubleheader with Saint Francis (Ind.), splitting the four-game series. Through four weekends, the Cougars are 8-9 overall.
Game 1 (9 innings): 13-8 Loss
	- Saint Francis struck first with a two-run homer in the first for an early 2-0 lead.
- IU Kokomo would push a run across in the bottom of the inning, as Kasey Ross singled and scored on a Tucker Platt double.
- The score remained 2-1 USF until the bottom of the fifth, as Platt. and Mike Talesky were both HBP to open the frame. The two would come around to score later in the inning, giving IUK a 3-2 lead through five.
- USF scored two runs on two hits and an error in the seventh, re-taking the lead at 4-3.
- Dylan Steele reached via error before Jacob Medvescek doubled to left field. A wild pitch scored Medvescek before Jack Leverenz and Tahj Borom each came through with RBI-singles to make it a 6-4 IUK advantage.
- The Cougars of USF burst out for six runs in the eighth, taking a 10-6 lead.
- Talesky would walk and score on a Dylan Steele double, cutting the deficit to three through eight innings.
- Saint Francis added three more insurance runs in the ninth to essentially seal the win.
- IU Kokomo pushed one run across in the ninth, but would fall 13-8 to USF to make it a 2-1 IUK series lead heading into game four.
- Logan Greer got the start on the mound and took home a no decision with a final line of 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K's.
- AJ Burkhalter looked good in relief, tossing 1.2 innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk.
- Brandon Bultemeier and Tyler Hensch each tossed an inning in relief, as Nathan Stanley lasted 0.2 innings and took home the loss.
Game 2 (7 innings): 2-1 Loss
	- Unlike game one of the day, IU Kokomo scored first with a single run in the bottom of the first. Riley Garczynski reached via bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error by the pitcher. He would score one batter later, as Kasey Ross roped one down the right field line for an early IUK lead.
- It remained a 1-0 IU Kokomo lead until the fourth, where Saint Francis scored a run on a hit and an error, tying the game at 1-1 through three and a half.
- USF mustered three hits in the fifth, but a bases loaded walk gave them a 2-1 lead that they would close out for a 2-1 victory over IUK in seven innings.
- Mason Whiteley got the start and took the loss, falling to 1-2 on the year. His final line: 4 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 K's.
- Blake Kimball entered in relief in the fifth, recording an out while surrendering two hits before giving way for Victor Fujiu.
- Fujiu tossed the final 2.2 innings for IU Kokomo, allowing no runs, a hit, and two walks, while striking out five.
The Cougars will open River States Conference play this weekend, as they will welcome #20 Point Park to town for a three-game series.
