Men’s Indoor Track and Field Finishes Third at the RSC Indoor Championships; Carmean Hits NAIA “A” Standard

LOGAN, Ohio. - The Cougars traveled to Logan, OH on Saturday to compete in the 2024 River States Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The men's team finished third overall, good for the best finish in program history. The Cougars were just five points behind runner-up Rio Grande.

Athletes scored points for the team by finishing Top-8 in their events, while the top three finishers from each event are named All-Conference.

Ethan Carmean improved his national qualification to the "A" Standard in the 3000m race walk while finishing third overall. Carmean wasn't the only Cougar to hit a qualifying standard in the race walk, as Bryce Stateler hit the NAIA "B" Standard in the same event to punch his ticket to Indoor Nationals.

Evan Gaylor finished second overall in the shot put with a mark of 15.25m. Teammate Seth Ireland finished third overall in shot put with a mark of 14.75m.

Julian Wallace grabbed two All-Conference finishes by placing second overall in the 400m run and anchoring the winning 4x400m relay team. Wallace also finished in the Top-8 for long jump, triple jump, and high jump. Julian would finish off the day by being named to the RSC Champion of Character Team.

Freshmen Brayden Biddle finished second overall in Pole Vault with a mark of 4.10m.

Sophomore Tanner Gibson finished third overall in the 200m dash. Gibson also finished sixth in both the 60m dash and long jump. Fellow Sprinter Hayden Nelson finished fourth in the 60m and 200m dashes.
