ALLENDALE, Mich. - A limited roster of Cougars traveled up to Grand Valley State University to compete in two separate meets on Friday and Saturday. Friday's meet was invite only and consisted of some elite level talent from across the country. There were 77 teams from many divisions and conferences represented on Friday.
DAY ONE (Friday)
Julian Wallace was the star of the show on Friday by hitting the NAIA "B" Standard in the 600m and punching his ticket to the National Championships with a time of 1:21.12. Wallace has been extremely close to this milestone for the past three seasons, and now as a senior he will finally get his shot to compete at the National Championships.
Steven Case and
Rico Ortiz had very strong performances of their own in the 600m by setting personal records.
Luis Saldana ran an impressive time of 15:41.36 in the 5000m run which broke his own school record by 12 seconds.
DAY TWO (Saturday)
Brayden Vought,
Rico Ortiz, and
Julian Wallace all broke the previous 400m record, but it was Wallace that found himself at the top of that trio and holds the new record at 50.48.
Freshmen
Steven Case was back for more on day two as he broke the school record in the 800m run in a time of 1:55.35. This time is just .05 seconds away from the NAIA "B" Standard. Case will have one more shot next week to punch his ticket to the National Championships.
Luis Saldana continued his record breaking weekend into day two by capturing the school record in the 3000m run with a time of 8:55.79.
Senior
Bryce Jennings broke the school record in the mile in a time of 4:27.26.

The Cougars will be back in action next Saturday as they travel Logan, OH to compete in the 2024 River States Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
