KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's soccer team picked up a second-straight win Saturday in a shut-out of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. The Cougars are now 5-6-2 overall and 2-1-1 in River States Conference play.
Saturday's match proved to be a stalemate early on in the opening 45 minutes, until a pair of IU Kokomo freshmen combined on the opening goal.
Hannah Hermansen had possession on a break before laying it back for
Addison Waller, who booted it past the keeper for a 1-0 Cougar lead in the 33rd minute. The goal was the first of Waller's collegiate career.
The Pomeroys dominated the chances category for the remaining 10 minutes of the first half but were unable to capitalize, as IUK took a 1-0 lead into the halftime locker room.
Mya Hernandez recorded a shot on goal in the 51st minute, as did
Jaidin Millsaps in the 58th minute, but it was
Mackenzie Gibbons striking in the 60th minute via a Waller assist.Â
Gibbons would strike once again with her fifth goal of the season in 87th minute, this time assisted by
Kaiya Bogers, as the Cougars coasted to a 3-0 win from there.
