PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The IU Kokomo women's basketball team lost 101-72 Saturday afternoon at Point Park, falling to 5-13 overall and 2-8 in River States Conference play.
A bright spot for the Cougars came from senior forward
Alaya Chapman, as she scored an IUK career-high 29 points to surpass 1,000 career points. Chapman needed 27 points to hit 1,000 for her career, and scored six points in the final 93 seconds to now sit at 1,002 career points.
Despite IU Kokomo scoring 17 points in the first quarter, the Pioneers doubled up the Cougars, scoring 34 to lead by 17 after 10 minutes.
The second quarter of Saturday's contest proved to be much closer than the first, as IU Kokomo was outscored by just four points to trail by 21 at the half.
Despite competing well in the second half and being outscored by just six and two in the final two quarters, the Cougars were unable to chip away at the Pioneer lead. Point Park closed out a 101-72 win over IU Kokomo.
As mentioned, Chapman led the Cougars with a game-high 29 points on an efficient 12-20 shooting from the field. Alaya also had a team-high nine rebounds.
Olivia Dowden added 12 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
The Cougars will close out a three-game road-trip Tuesday at Oakland City. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
