FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Cougars were back in action Friday evening after a long Christmas break. The team traveled to Fort Wayne to compete in the Indiana Tech Invite. The Cougars had a full roster for the first time this season and were able to pick up right where they left off by breaking more records.
Ethan Carmean punched his ticket to the NAIA Indoor National Championships by hitting the "B" Standard in the 3000m racewalk. Carmean finished second overall with a time of 15:26.40.
Sophomore Tanner Gibson broke the school record in the long jump with a mark of 6.51m, good for sixth overall.
Senior Julian Wallace would join in on the record breaking by besting his own school record in the triple jump. Wallace's new record stands at 12.79m and was good enough for a third-place finish.
Freshmen Steven Case had an impressive performance in the 1000m with a fourth-place finish in a time of 2:41.30.
Evan Gaylor made his long-awaited IUK debut and didn't disappoint with a fifth-place finish in the shot put. Evan's mark of 15.01m moves him into second in school history, behind only his brother and former National Champion Coach Grant Gaylor.
