Box Score KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's soccer team lost 2-1 to IU Northwest on Wednesday night, with both Red Hawk goals coming via penalty kicks. It was the Cougars' second loss of the season after last week's defeat to #2 Marian, bringing their record to 1-2-1 through four matches.
The Cougars were in control for much of the first half, outshooting IU Northwest 7-5.
Kelsi Hoot would find the back of the net in the 41st minute to give IU Kokomo a 1-0 lead at halftime. Hoot's second goal of the season came on a big boot from outside the box, catching the goalkeeper out of position.
The match shifted in IU Northwest's favor in the second half, as the Red Hawks took 10 shots against the Cougars four, and five corner kicks against the Cougars one in the final 45 minutes. IUN would score a pair of goals in the 48th and 65th minutes, as IU Kokomo would commit a pair of fouls inside the box to gift the Red Hawks PK's.
IU Northwest managed to keep the Cougars scoreless in the final 25 minutes of play, holding on to win 2-1.

The Cougars return to action at home on Saturday, September 2nd, when they hope to bounce back against the University of St. Francis (Ill.).
