KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Baseball team started a three game series against West Virginia Tech with a double header on Friday, winning game one 5-0 and losing game two 6-8.

Game One Offensively

• IUK notched the first run of the game in the seventh inning on an RBI double from Noah Hurlock (Garrett Lupoi scored).
• The Cougars scored another 4 runs in the eighth inning, starting with Gavin Smith scoring on a fielder's choice. After that, Dylan Steele hit a 2 RBI double (Nolan Bowser and Thomas Obergfell scored). Dylan Steele then scored on an RBI double from Jack Leverenz.

Game One Pitching

• Lucas Letsinger pitched all 9 innings for a complete-game shut-out to improve to 6-3 on the season. Letsinger allowed no runs, four hits, and no free passes while striking out 12.

Game Two Offensively

• The Cougars scored 2 runs in the second inning on a 2 RBI single from Tucker Platt (Noah Hurlock and Jack Leverenz scored). 
• In the third inning, Gavin Smith scored on an RBI single from Jack Leverenz.
• 2 more runs came for IUK in the fourth inning. First Thomas Obergfell singled (Hayden Davis scored), followed by Blake Kimball scoring on a walk with bases loaded.
• In the fifth inning, Noah Hurlock hit an RBI double (Garrett Lupoi scored).
• West Virginia Tech scored 1 run in the first inning, 4 runs in the sixth, and 3 runs in the seventh.

Game Two Pitching

• Ben Harris started for the Cougars, pitching the first 5 innings. Harris gave up 4 hits and 1 run, with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.
• Asa Christie came in for the sixth inning, giving up 2 hits, 2 walks and 4 runs.
• Victor Fujiu came in after Christie, earning 2 strikeouts and 2 walks.
• Garrison Brege relieved Fujiu. Brege gave up 2 hits and 2 runs.
• Ethan Leslie closed the game for IUK, giving up 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 1 batter and walking 2 in the seventh inning.

The Cougars return to action Saturday, finishing their three game series against the Golden Bears at 12:00 PM.
