KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Baseball team defeated West Virginia Tech by a score of 4-2 on Saturday to win the three-game series 2-1. The Cougars are now 19-15 overall and 9-8 in River States Conference action.

Offensive Highlights

• In the second inning, the Cougars scored their first run on an RBI double from Tahj Borom (Jarod Gillespie scored).
• The Golden Bears scored both of their runs in the fourth inning, taking a 2-1 lead.
• Jarod Gillespie scored again in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Riley Garczynski, tying the game at 2-2..
• Matt Iacobucci led off the bottom of the eighth with a pinch-hit double, before being pinch-run for by Gavin Smith. Dylan Steele laid down a sac-bunt, but no one was covering home after the throw to first and Smith managed to scamper home to give the Cougs the lead. Noah Hurlock hit a solo-homer later in the inning for an insurance run.

Pitching

• JT Holton got the start and the win for IU Kokomo, improving to 4-2 on the season.. Holton gave up two earned runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out eight batters in eight innings of work.
• Brandon Bultemeier relieved Holton in the ninth inning, getting the save while allowing no baserunners.

The Cougars will travel to Indiana Tech on Tuesday night, before returning home for a three-game weekend series against Brescia University.
