KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Baseball team earned a dominant 13-4 victory over the Tigers of Georgetown College. With the win, the Cougars rise to 16-11 on the season and are currently 7-4 in conference play.
Offensive Highlights
- Riley Garczynski scored an unearned run in the first inning.
- In the second inning, Gavin Smith scored on a wild pitch, and Caden Whitehead scored on a fielder's choice.
- In the third, Luke Barnes hit an RBI triple (Jack Leverenz scored), followed by a Dylan Janke single (Luke Barnes scored).
- IUK scored 6 runs in the fifth inning. First, Noah Hurlock was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded (Jack Leverenz scored). This was followed by Garrett Lupoi and Luke Barnes both scoring on a fielder's choice. Then, Riley Garczynski hit a 2 RBI triple (Caden Whitehead and Gavin Smith scored). Finally, Riley Garczynski scored on a sacrifice fly from Nolan Bowser.
- In the sixth inning, Luke Barnes hit a sacrifice fly which Dylan Steele scored on, followed by yet another sacrifice fly from Dylan Janke, with Jack Leverenz scoring.
- Georgetown scored 2 runs in the third inning, 1 in the fourth and 1 in the fifth.
Pitching
- J.T. Holton started for the Cougars, pitching six innings. Holton gave up 7 hits and 3 earned runs while striking out 6 batters.
- Victor Fujiu relieved Holton in the seventh inning. Fujui struck out 3Â consecutive batters in the inning.
- Connor Hurt pitched the eighth inning, earning 2 strikeouts.
- Garrison Brege closed the game for IUK and struck out 1 batter.
This weekend, the Cougars travel to Midway University in Kentucky for a three game series against the Eagles.
