COCHRAN, Ga. - The IU Kokomo baseball team closed out their third and final weekend series in Georgia with a 3-0 loss and 7-4 loss. Through three weekends of play, the Cougars are 5-5.

Game One Offensively
  • Middle Georgia State scored the only runs of the game in the sixth, as they scored three runs on five-hits.
  • Nolan Bowser, Dylan Steele, and Will Richter each had base-hits for IUK in the game one loss.

Game One Pitching
  • Lucas Letsinger took the tough loss on the bump, as he threw all six innings. Through five innings he had allowed just two hits, but a five-hit sixth was the difference-maker.
  • Letsinger's final line: 6 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 7 K.

Game Two Offensively
  • IU Kokomo found the scoreboard first in game two, as Thomas Obergfell doubled and with two outs he scored an unearned run via an error on the second-baseman.
  • Middle Georgia State responded immediately scoring two runs, with one coming via balk.
  • The Bears extended their lead to 5-1 with a three-run homer in the bottom of the third.
  • After Tucker Platt and Jarod Gillespie walked to open the fourth inning and both advanced a base on a wild pitch, Obergfell came through with a 2-RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-3.
  • Middle Georgia State scored two more runs on one hit and one IUK error to make it a 7-3 lead through four innings.
  • Dylan Steele walked and scored on a Gillespie double in the top of the fifth, making it a 7-4 MGSU lead, which would ultimately be the final score.
