OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's basketball lost their final road game of the season Tuesday night, falling behind early and losing 99-63 at Oakland City.
Oakland City led 4-0 early before extending their lead to 9-2 and forcing an IU Kokomo 30-second timeout.
Kristen Ridner knocked down a trey and
Anna Kiser scored in the paint to cut the deficit to two at 9-7. The Mighty Oaks eventually led by double-digits, but led 21-13 after one quarter.
The Mighty Oaks opened the second quarter with a 17-0 run, extending their lead to 25 with 5:20 remaining in the half. Oakland City led 58-26 at halftime.
Oakland City scored 13 of the first 15 second-half points to build a a 43-point lead.
Lilly Maple had eight third-quarter points and helped IUK trim the deficit by ten-points to 33. The Cougars trailed 78-42 heading into the fourth-quarter.
Maple was 3-3 from the field in the fourth-quarter but Oakland City maintained at-least a 36-point lead for the entirety of the period, going on to win 99-63.
Freshman
Lilly Maple was a bright-spot Tuesday evening, scoring a career-high 17 points on 6-9 shooting from the field.
Olivia Dowden had 13 points to go along with four assists and three rebounds.
Ella Wolfe added seven points and
Anna Kiser had a game-high ten rebounds.
The Cougars will close out the 2022-2023 season Saturday with a home game against Brescia as we celebrate lone senior,
Kaylie Abriani. Tip-off is set for 1:00 P.M.
