Box Score KOKOMO, Ind. - The IUK Women's Basketball team defeated the Brescia Bearcats by a score of 75-70 on their Senior Celebration Day. Lone IU Kokomo senior

After a layup from Brescia marked the first score of the game, IU Kokomo went on a 10-0 run to take an 8 point lead, led by a pair of three pointers from
Anya Friend and
Anna Kiser. Brescia cut the lead to five after a pair of free throws and a triple, but another Cougar scoring run of 9-0, punctuated by a pair of layups from
Mia Catey, gave IUK a 23-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Cougars started the second quarter strong, going ahead 28-11 within the first two minutes of the period. A scoring run from the Bearcats cut the lead to 10, but the Cougars stayed strong with numerous layups and free throws, taking a 40-30 lead into halftime.
Mia Catey,
Anna Kiser, and
Kaylie Abriani all scored layups early in the third quarter to go ahead by a score of 48-34 three minutes into the period. The Cougars, however, struggled with fouls in the third quarter, as 10 made free throws from the Bearcats put them within nine points of IUK going into the fourth.
Back to back layups from
Anna Kiser gave the Cougars a 63-50 lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Bearcats stormed back to trail by just three points with two minutes remaining in the game. A pair of late layups from
Alaya Chapman sealed a 75-70 win for IUK.
Alaya Chapman was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 19 points. Not far behind was
Anna Kiser with 18 points, as well as
Mia Catey with 11 points.
In her final game as a Cougar, senior
Kaylie Abriani recorded 5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.
The IU Kokomo Cougars end their season with a record of 3-24 and a 3-15 record in conference play.
