UPLAND, Ind. - The Cougars traveled to nearby Taylor University on Wednesday evening to take on the Trojans. The Cougars battled in a tough game, but eventually fell 81-67. 

The game was all Taylor to start as the Trojans jumped out to a 7-0 lead, however the Cougars would go on their own six point run that was capped off by a McKenzie Cooper jumper to bring her squad within one. The rest of the first quarter would be very back and forth, but the Cougars would find themselves trailing 19-14. 

The second quarter would prove to me more of the same competitive play as Alaya Chapman cut the lead to one on two more occasions. It would be the Trojans that found the momentum to go on a strong run to close out the half as they led 35-28 going into the break. 

This back-and-forth scoring continued through the first five minutes of the third quarter. A three pointer by Cameryn Rector was followed by a successful trip to the free throw line by McKenzie Cooper, and the Cougars tied the game at 37. The Trojans were then able to show their depth and experience that fueled them to an 8-0 run. 

The Trojans wouldn't look back from that point on, as they cruised to an 81-67 victory over the Cougars. 

Alaya Chapman led the Cougars offensively with 20 points. Anna Kiser and Mckenzie Cooper both chipped in eight points and six rebounds. 

The Cougars will be back in action at home against Rio Grande on January 3rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
