KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's basketball team faced a stiff test Wednesday as the 14th ranked Rio Grande RedStorm came to town. The RedStorm led from start to finish in a 104-56 victory over the Cougars.
Rio Grande, the highest scoring team in the NAIA, pushed the pace early and often Wednesday night, scoring 22 points in the opening quarter for a 15-point lead through 10 minutes.
Despite 15 second quarter points from the Cougars, the RedStorm poured in 35 to take a 57-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.Â
Rio's control of play never wavered in the final 20 minutes as they went on to win 104-56.
Two Cougars scored in double-digits Wednesday, led by
Olivia Dowden with 18.
Anya Friend hit four triples for 12 points.
The Cougars will next be in action Saturday in Ohio as they will battle the Ohio Christian Trailblazers. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM.
