GARY, Ind. - The Cougars traveled to Indiana University Northwest on Wednesday afternoon to battle the RedHawks. The Cougars are regaining momentum as they picked up another big win ahead of Christmas.

Ty Wills started things off for the Cougars with a three-pointer assisted by Max Newman. The Cougars offense was on full display early, as they led 22-13 at the 10-minute mark of the first half.

An evenly balanced scoring attack led the Cougars to a 38-30 lead at the end of the first half. Four different Cougars were already knocking on the door of double digit scoring in the first. 

The RedHawks came out of halftime with something to prove and quickly cut into the Cougar lead. Five minutes into the second half the game was all knotted up at 42.

It was now the Cougars mission to persevere through the Redhawk momentum and get back on track. Coach Eric Echelbarger's squad would execute that plan to perfection, as the Cougars answered with a 20-0 run to take a 62-42 lead with nine minutes to play.  This spectacular run was fueled by more balanced scoring and stellar defensive play.  

The Cougars held onto this big lead as they cruised to an 80-60 victory. Max Newman led the way with a monster 21 point and 11 rebound night. Fellow big man Noah Harris impressed with a 11 point, 10 rebound double-double of his own.  

Ty Wills and Chris Chin each had strong showings with 15 points apiece. Hunter Jackson chipped in a 11 point, 7 rebound, and 5 assist performance. 

The Cougars will be back in action at home against IU Northwest on December 28th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
