KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's basketball team closed out the 2023 calendar year with a convincing 74-59 win over fellow IU school the RedHawks from IU Northwest.
The Cougars took an eight point half time lead at 34-26, thanks to some hot shooting from behind the arc. Dell Demeyers was 3-4 from long range and
Noah Harris added two more triples to pace the Cougars in the first half. Demeyers led all scores with 11 1st half points.
The second half saw the Cougars maintaining a comfortable cushion around 10 points as the RedHawks couldn't mount much of a comeback. Distance shooting from IU Kokomo ultimately sealed a convincing 15 point-win. Overall the Cougars shot 50% from beyond the arc making 10 three-pointers.
Demeyers scored a game high 22 points, Harris contributed 14 and
Hunter Jackson 11.
Max Newman was just shy of another double-double as he corralled a game high 13 rebounds to go along with 8 points.
IU Kokomo will take an 11-2 overall record into next weeks' RSC play as they take on Rio Grande at home on January 3rd, followed by a trip to Circleville, Ohio to take on Ohio Christian on the 6th.
