RIO GRANDE, Ohio. - The IU Kokomo men's basketball took on Miami University Middletown on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars came in fresh off of receiving votes, and they looked the part with an impressive 94-40 victory over the Thunder Hawks that completed another 2-0 weekend.  

The Cougars came out hot with an Evan Kretz three to start things off, which was followed by an 8-0 team run. A successful and-one layup by transfer standout Max Newman would put the Cougars up 13-4 with 16:37 left to play in the first half. 
 

The Cougar offense was on full display on Saturday as they were able to spread the wealth and dominate the paint in the first half. A Noah Harris dunk would cap of this incredible first half as the Cougars led 47-20 going into the break. Julien Hunter led the way with 12 first half points. Max Newman impressed with a seven point nine rebound first half. 
 

The second half proved to be more of the same as the Cougars dominated the first 10 minutes of the second half 26-14 and found themselves up by 43. Head Coach Eric Echelbarger was able to open up his bench in the second half and cruise to a 94-40 win over the Thunder Hawks. 
 

The Cougars showed balance on offense with five players in double figures. Julien Hunter starred in the big time win with 19 points on a perfect 9/9 from the field. Max Newman continued his dominance in the paint with a 13 point, 11 rebound double-double. Noah Harris contributed big time with a 10 point, seven rebound performance. 
 

Ty Wills and Evan Kretz chipped in 12 points apiece, while Chris Chin added nine points to go along with five assists.  
 

The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday at 7:00 PM, as they travel to University of Northwestern Ohio.
