COLUMBUS, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's soccer team knew they needed to take care of business at IUPUC Thursday afternoon in order to have a shot at the River States Conference regular season crown in Saturday's regular season finale.

The Cougars dominated the Crimson Pride from start to finish for a 6-0 win, out-shooting IUPUC 48-5 and 28-2 in shots on goal.

Junior Kelsi Hoot was pestering the IUPUC keeper early, recording IU Kokomo's first shot on goal in the 2nd minute before sending a shot off of the crossbar in the 5th minute.

Hoot would cash in eventually, as she scored the Cougars first two goals of the match. Her first goal came in the 18th minute before adding another in the 24th minute, giving IUK an early 2-0 lead. With the two goals Thursday, Hoot now has a career high for goals in a season with eight.

Graduate transfer Elaina Page continued to contribute, beating the goalie in the 37th minute to make it a 3-0 lead. Page's goal is her fourth of the season. 

After an IUPUC foul in the box late in the first half, fifth-year senior defender Karlie Kellett earned the nod on the penalty kick, looking for her first collegiate goal. Kellett would find the back of the net on the PK to notch her first career goal and make it a 4-0 IU Kokomo lead at halftime.

Less than a week after earning her first goal as a Cougar, senior Brooke Gill scored in a second-straight match. Gill's goal came just four minutes after halftime, extending the Cougar lead to five with 40 minutes remaining. 

Mackenzie Gibbons would add IU Kokomo's final tally in the 83rd minute, scoring her fourth goal of the season thanks to a Mackenzie Pedigo assist. The assist was Pedigo's first of the year.

The IU Kokomo defense posted their sixth shutout of the season while holding the Crimson Pride to just five shot attempts and two on goal.

The Cougars will host Rio Grande Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM, needing a draw to clinch the program's first River States Conference regular season championship.
