KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's soccer team settled for a 2-2 draw against the Bearcats of Brescia Saturday afternoon. The Cougars led 2-0 in the second half, but two Brescia goals in the final 25 minutes evened the score.

The Cougars out-shot Brescia 22-5 and 10-4 in shots on goal, but were unable to close out the win.

IU Kokomo got off to a strong start, scoring in the seventh minute for an early lead. Senior Brooke Gill scored her first collegiate goal for the Cougars on Senior Day at Kokomo Municipal Stadium, as her header in the box went off the cross-bar and straight down across the goal-line, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

Despite more scoring chances and out-shooting the Bearcats 10-0 in the first-half, the Cougars only scored once to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. 

After a number of dangerous opportunities to open the second half, IU Kokomo would add on in the 54th minute. Kendra Brewer connected with Keely Hoopingarner, who used her left-foot to boot one past the goalkeeper, giving IUK a 2-0 lead. Hoopingarner's 12th goal on the year was Brewer's first assist. 

Brescia would cut the deficit in half in the 65th minute, as a ball got behind the IUK defense before Victoria Poon snuck the ball past oncoming goalie Kailee Moore and into the back of the net.

Leading 2-1 with less than 20 minutes remaining, IU Kokomo was called for a penalty inside the box, resulting in a Bearcat penalty kick. Brescia's Duda Feres converted on the PK to tie the match 2-2.

Neither team managed to score in the remaining minutes despite producing scoring chances, as the match ended in a 2-2 draw. 

The Cougars will close out the regular season next week with a match at IUPUC Thursday before a home-match against Rio Grande Saturday afternoon.
