Volleyball Rolls Past Conference Foe IU Southeast in Straight Sets

KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo volleyball team cruised past RSC opponent IU Southeast in an impressive showing Tuesday night. The Cougars are now 14-4 overall and 3-0 in River States Conference action.

Prior to tonight's match, the Grenadiers of IU Southeast were 4-0 in RSC play and sat atop the RSC West division standings.

IU Southeast took an early 5-2 lead, but they would not be in control for long. The Cougars went on a 4-0 run to take their first lead of the match 6-5. The first set was neck-and-neck until a 3-0 spurt forced an IU Southeast timeout.

The Cougs eventually extended their lead to six at 20-14 to force a second Grenadier timeout of the set. Leading 23-15, consecutive Allison Richman kills would give the Cougs a 25-15 first set win.

After dropping the first point of the second-set, IU Kokomo won the next five-points behind the serving of Lorelei Porter. A Grenadier attack error gave the Cougars an 11-6 lead, forcing IU Southeast head coach Eric Brian to take a timeout.
